The Clearwater Fire Department has just received a valuable piece of new equipment, a 2024 Pierce Enforcer Pumper Truck! The department has been operating their fire duties with a 1984 Engine and a 1999 Engine in service. A fire truck’s life is around 15-25 years! As a result of excellent maintenance from our fire department, the two we have has managed to meet the department needs, however, it was time to invest into the future. The new Pierce Pumper will be the primary out apparatus and will replace the 1984. The 1999 Engine will become the reserve status or 2nd out unit.
In January 2022 the Governing Body approved the purchase of a Pierce Enforcer Pumper truck for $674,025. Placing a $200,000 down payment, and the city financed the remaining $474,025 at 2.88% for 15 years.
The new truck has been on order since 2022 and was finally delivered on May 7, 2024. The fire department will be training on the new apparatus for the next couple of months before it is ready to be put into service. Once the new apparatus is in service the 1984 engine will go up for auction.
On behalf of the entire governing body, I’d like to thank our Fire Chief Jared Dinwiddie and the entire Clearwater Volunteer Fire Department for their professionalism and dedication is keeping our community safe! We are very proud to provide this updated Pumper for their use!
Thank you,
Burt Ussery
Mayor
