The Chisholm Ridge Ponds in Clearwater are under a recommended Watch Advisory today due to visual confirmation of a harmful algae bloom.
Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) staff conducted an inspection of the waterbody yesterday after receiving a public bloom report. Preliminary testing and visual evidence confirmed the presence of a bloom.
The waterbody is scheduled for additional sampling on Tuesday, May 26. Results from the sample analysis and any updates will be shared next week.
Residents are encouraged to avoid contact with water that appears bright green, blue-green, scummy, or has surface streaks. Please keep pets away from affected areas as a precaution.
