2024 Citizen of the Year

At last night's City Council meeting, Mayor Burt Ussery recognized George Rudy as the 2024 Citizen of the Year. Please help us in congratulating Mr. Rudy.

"George Rudy has been a resident of Kansas for over 50 years, originally from Bellvale, New York. George served in the U. S. Air Force from 1967 to 1970 and was stationed in South Dakota then transferred to McConnell AFB in 1969. In 1973, George would later start the Tri-County Electric Company, located in downtown Clearwater. In 1999, he purchased the old Clearwater fire station at 117 W. Ross where Tri-County Electric would remain until his retirement in 2024. George has been a valued member of the Clearwater Community, serving on the Planning Commission for 31 years, from 1989 through 2022 and worked closely with the city on multiple projects to include park expansion and the Wellness Center. His passion for his community was matched with his love for gold mining in Alaska where he owned and mined an active claim"
