Clearwater Aquatic Center includes a 230,000 gallon pool, a large wading pool, diving board, 2 drop slides, 2 twenty-foot high slides and modern bathhouse and concession area. The pool also includes a zero entry area that one can use to walk into the pool. A built in rail in the middle of the zero entry allows young and seniors alike to grab onto the rail as they walk into the pool.

There is a mushroom waterfall in the large pool and two water toys in the wading pool. Even though there are several shade structures built around the pool, there is plenty of room to catch some sun on the deck surrounding the pool. Come join us at the Clearwater Aquatic Center.

POOL RULES

  • Emergency telephone number is 9-1-1.
  • Maximum bathing load is 497
  • No diving in shallow water.
  • To use any slides or diving board, swimmers must be able to swim unassisted to the ladder.
  • Must be 48" to ride slides.
  • No floatation devices in diving well.
  • Children 10 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Children under 2 must wear a swim diaper.
  • "Cut-Offs" are prohibited.
  • Running and rough play in the pool is prohibited.
  • Drugs, alcohol, and tobacco products are prohibited.
  • Excess body lotions shall be removed prior to entering the pool water.
  • A shower, using warm water and soap, must be taken prior to entering the pool.
  • Person with open wounds, bandages or any symptoms of communicable disease shall be prohibited from entering the pool. 
  • No outside food or drink is allowed.
  • The City of Clearwater and the Clearwater Aquatic Staff are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings
  • Refunds will not be given if the pool closes due to weather conditions.

Pool Party reservations available $200 for 1.5 hours on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Contact the pool to book your party. 620-584-6310. Available pool party times are 6:00 - 7:30pm and 7:30 - 9:00pm. The 6:00-7:30pm slot must be booked first before you can request the 7:30 - 9:00pm. You may not bring in outside food or drinks.

Senior Swim will begin July 6th from 6:15pm to 7pm. Contact the Senior Center at 620-584-2332 to learn about Senior Swim.

Swim Lesson Program 11a-11:45a

Lessons are $30.00 for 2 weeks for all levels.  Levels 1 – 6 are 45-minute classes Monday thru Friday. All classes must have a minimum of 5 enrolled for the class to be held. If the City must cancel your class because there are not enough students, you will have a choice to move to another class or receive a refund.

Level 1 – ADVANCED MINNOW       

For children who are taking lessons for the first time or who need to build confidence in the water.

  • Ages: 5 – 16 years
  • Prerequisite: Put face in water, stay attentive
  • Exit Requirements: 1) Enter independently, travel 5 yards, bob 3 times and then exit. 2) Glide on front for two body lengths, roll onto back and float for 3 seconds, recover to vertical position.

Level 2 – FISH

  • Ages: 6 – 16 years
  • Prerequisites: Confidence in shallow water, go underwater, float & kick without assistance.
  • Exit Requirements: 1) Step from side into chest-deep water, move into front float for 5 seconds, roll to back, float for 5 seconds, then return to vertical position. 2) Move into a back float for 5 seconds, roll to front then recover to a vertical position. 3) Push off and swim using arms and legs on from for 5 body lengths, roll to back, float for 15 seconds, roll to front and continue swimming for 5 body lengths.

 Level 3 – STINGRAY

  • Ages: 6 – 16 years
  • Prerequisites: Basic Front and Back-Crawls, float in deep water without assistance.
  • Exit Requirements: 1) Jump into deep water from the side, swim front crawl for 15 yards, maintain position by treading or floating for 30 seconds and swim backstroke for 15 yards.

 Level 4 - BARRACUDA

  • Ages: 6 – 16 years
  • Prerequisites: Crawl stroke with side-breathing & Back-Crawl for 10 yards, the Kneeling-Dive, and swim in deep water.
  • Exit Requirements: 1) Perform a feet first entry into deep water, swim front crawl for 25 yards, change direction and swim backstroke for 25 yards. 2) Swim breaststroke for 15 yards, change direction and back crawl for 15 yards.

Level 5 - DOLPHIN

Provides teens with a stress-free environment among peers to create comfortable learning. Classes are grouped according to the individual skills and experience.

  • Ages: 6 – 16 years
  • Prerequisites: Crawl stroke & Backstroke 25 yards, the Sidestroke kick for 15 yards, Breaststroke for 15 yards, Elementary Backstroke for 15 yards, Butterfly for 15 yards, tread water 1 min.
  • Exit Requirements: 1) Perform a shallow angle dive into deep water, swim front crawl for 50 yards, change direction and swim backstroke for 50 yards. 2) Swim breaststroke for 25 yards, change direction and swim back crawl for 25 yards.

 Level 6 - SHARK

This class emphasizes stroke refinement, endurance building, competitive techniques, and personal safety.

  • Ages:6 – 16 years
  • Prerequisites:Crawl stroke & Back stroke 50 yards, Sidestroke, Breaststroke, & Butterfly 25 yards, and a long shallow dive. Front and back open turns.
  • Exit Requirements: 1) Swim 500 yards continuously using 3 strokes, swimming at least 50 yards of each stroke. 2) Perform the Cooper 12-minute swim test and compare results with pre-assessment results.
