UPDATE FROM THE MAYOR
Here’s wishing you all a very safe and happy Thanksgiving!
There are two topics for this update, first SOLAR POWER and secondly, filling volunteer positions.
Solar Power
I attended the Solar Power Town Hall meeting last night. The meeting is a step in the process that Sedgwick County is conducting to ensure that the land use regulations are adequate to support the introduction of commercial solar power operations within Sedgwick County. This is NOT solar power for individual homes or business, but the commercialization of solar power. I encourage everyone to take a few minutes and become aware of this discussion. Sedgwick County has placed a moratorium on a final decision until March 2024. In the link provided there is information on the process and a survey that you can take which provides your voice to be heard regarding the regulations involved. For more information on the Solar Energy Conversion Systems / Utility-Scale Solar and the Unified Zoning Code, go to www.sedgwickcounty.org/solar.
