UPDATE FROM THE MAYOR
January 17, 2023
Happy New Year!
As we kick off the new year, there are a couple of updates I’d like to provide.
Cox Communications
Earlier last year, Cox Communications alerted the City that they had made a business decision to provide their service for internet and cable in to the City of Clearwater. They will start installing lines as early as this week. They will be following the Evergy lines, which means where Evergy has buried lines, Cox will do the same, and if Evergy has aerial lines, then Cox will also. Lines will be placed in the Utility Easements only. Some of the easements are located in residents’ back yards. Cox has committed to restoring the easement to the same or better condition they found it. If a resident has questions about the work that is happening at their home, they can speak to the crews working on project.
Cox will also be placing information signs in the neighborhoods where they are working with the phone number to call for questions.
The construction will take approximately 4 months. Cox will be notifying residents when service will be available for them in their neighborhoods. They will be rolling service out in phases. Cox has indicated they hope to have services assessable to everyone who wants it by Halloween.
Indian Ridge Housing Development
The Indian Ridge, which will be located on the property north of Jump Start, will be breaking ground by installing the sanitary sewer by the end of February. The developer, Lagaly Homes, plans to start building 20 lots in the first phase. When complete, Indian Ridge will have a total of 50 lots and 80 dwellings, a combination of single-family homes and duplexes.
