UPDATE FROM THE MAYOR – April 29, 2022

There are some exciting changes coming to Clearwater! The city is tackling some much-needed improvements in the form of adopting a new City logo and erecting a brand-new City Park pavilion and shelter.

A picture containing transport, outdoor, white, parked

Description automatically generatedThe current Clearwater City logo has represented the City for decades, so an update was needed. The Clearwater City Council contracted with an agency to create a new logo which brings a new spin on the original design of the windmill. The windmill symbolizes the history and traditions of the origins of Clearwater. The new logo is already being adopted on City vehicles. Plans are in place to expand its adoption to other City signage such as City limit signs and the water tower. The water tower logo will be changed during its next regular maintenance. Because of the unquietness of the stone at the north entrance to Clearwater (which displays the original windmill logo) the City will not replace or update that stone.

City employees are in in the final stages of completing the new City Park pavilion and shelter. The construction initiative is the result of the Park Advisory Board working with City Staff to create the design and implement the plan for the new facility. The Park Pavilion is a post and beam frame structure with a polymer shake shingle roof designed to last for many years. The areas around the pavilion have been completed with concrete for better cleaning, public use, and community safety for all that will enjoy it. The current design will offer three individual spaces, or one large space compete with tables, power and lighting for daytime and evening use.

The City is invited to celebrate the opening of this new space with a ceremony on Thursday May, 12 at 1pm. There will be a ribbon cutting with brief comments by the Mayor and recognition to those who assisted in the design, planning, and construction of the building and surrounding grounds. The new logo will be prominently featured at the center of the City Park’s basketball court (adjacent to the pavilion and shelter) which will be resurfaced in the near future.

Please plan to join the Mayor, City staff, and others at the ribbon cutting planned for Thursday, May 12 at 1pm in the City Park Shelter and Pavilion.
